Mary Catherine (McDevitt) Johnsen, 94, of Gordon and South Range, WI, passed away comfortably on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Aspen Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mary was born February1, 1931 in Youngstown, OH to Agnes (Caplin) and William McDevitt.
She was a US Air Force Veteran, her career continued with the Wisconsin State Highway commission, a medical secretary and X-Ray Technician for Superior Memorial Hospital, St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Superior Housing Authority Management, Hallet Dock, Pioneer Insurance, vice president of Seaway Testing Inc., and the owner/operator of Park Laundromat and Ice Cream truck/wagon.
Mary Kay's many interests included genealogy, flying (just a few steps away form obtaining her pilot's license), playing scrabble and Skip-Bo. She was involved in the Solon Springs Writers, and Luna Chicks. Mary enjoyed spending time with Bob on Lake Superior boating and fishing. They took the scenic routes traveling to South Texas, South Padre Island, Brownsville where she was a first responder on the Fire Department in the winter months.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Johnsen, Sr., her son, William M. Johnsen; her grandson, Brian C. Johnsen; and her sister, Pat Leonello.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Steve, deceased) Pavcovich, Robyn (Jim) Luscombe, and Robert (Shelloy) Johnsen, Jr.; her sister, Peggy (Al) Fantone and Coletta Doyle; her grandchildren, Timm (Val) Johnsen, Jamie Johnsen, Tressie (Brent) Wachowski, Kate (Ryan), Tiffany (Andrew) Pavcovich-Smith, Patrick (Cheryl Lee) Pavcovich, William (Jodi) Johnsen Jr., and Kelly (Chris) Lindelof; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A thank you to the Middle River/ Aspen Health & Rehab staff: So many to name all from her eight-year residence at the facility. A special thank you to Patty, CNA Jamie, Taylor, Judy, and Sara at Aspen Health and the hospice team Mikayla and Doreen.
Per Mary's request there will be no formal service.
