Murfreesboro, NC - Mary Elizabeth Coggins Lassiter, 76, passed away surrounded by her family on July 2, 2025. She was born on July 17, 1948 to the late Albert Coggins, Sr. and Mary Hagwood Coggins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, William Jordan Lassiter, Jr. and her brother, Albert Cale Coggins, Jr.
Mary was a loving mother and grandmother and loved caring for and helping others. As a member of Victory Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, she would travel each and every Sunday to attend church services. When her health prevented her from traveling, she would watch services online every Friday and Wednesday so she would not miss a service.
Cherishing her memory are her children, Liz Dunlow and husband, Darryl; her son, William David Lassiter and wife, Jennifer, all of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Hannah Dunlow, David Lassiter, Jordan Lassiter, and Holly Lassiter; great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Ella, all of Ronoke Rapids; a brother, Russell Coggins of Richmond, VA, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, 313 East Jackson Street, Jackson, NC 27845. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC 27855.
