Mary Patricia Mallory (nee York), 90 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Arthur 'Bud' Mallory, her parents Ralph York and Esther Floyd and her brother, Ed York.
Mary is survived by her eight children: Susan Mallory, Patti Mallory (Tim), Donna Mallory (Ken), Judi Silliere (Ray), Kathy Caracappa, Steven Mallory (Debra), Scott Mallory (Sara), Dan Mallory (Marcella) and her brother, Jerry York (Janet). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mary graduated in 1956 from Massachusetts General Hospital with a nursing degree. Several weeks later she married the love of her life, Bud Mallory, who passed away in 1968. Mary raised her 8 children while remaining active in her profession and community of West Islip, NY. After the death of her husband, Mary worked mostly overnight shifts at Good Samaritan Hospital so she could have time with her children mornings and evenings. She was past president of the Emergency Nurses Association where she is a member of their hall of fame, New York State Council of Emergency Nurses, Suffolk County Catholic Nurses Association and Suffolk County Emergency Nurses Association. Mary was also a very active volunteer in Scouting and Parent Teacher Associations.
Upon retiring, Mary moved to Charleston, SC where she remained active as a volunteer at the Charleston Children's Museum, Charleston Aquarium, and Naval Weapons Station. She was also able to fulfil lifelong dreams of traveling the world.
