Mary Jo McAlpine, 83 of Blountsville passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born September 6, 1941, in Blount County the daughter of Oves Barto Newman and Mary Grace Harper Newman. She was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts. Most importantly she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband: Hershell McAlpine; daughters: Debra (Tommy) Watkins, Karen (Michael) Thrasher and Courtney (Paul) Glenon; sons: Quentin (Mariah) Killian and Kevin (Monica) McAlpine; brothers: Charles (Karen) Newman and Bobby (Christine) Newman; host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband: James Killian; son: David Killian; daughter: Dana Killian; her parents: Barto and Mary Grace Newman.
Funeral Service was 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Blountsville Funeral Home with Brother Tim Johnson officiating. The burial was in Mulberry Cemetery, Blountsville Funeral Home directing. Visitation was 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Blountsville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Jonathan Gable, Andrew Hawkins, Josh Hawkins, Cam Lay, Alek Wissinger and Izayah Glenon.
