Mary Lou McCurley, of Pauls Valley, passed away June 27, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years.

Mary Lou Smith was born February 26, 1941 in Palacios, Texas to John Thomas and Isabel Solis Smith.

She was married to Ronald Keith McCurley, Sr. They made their home in Huntsville, Texas where, for 10 years, she worked as a Teacher's Aide at the Huntsville, Texas ISD; retiring in 2000. Huntsville was their home for about 40 years. Later, they came to make Pauls Valley their home for the past 15 years. She is a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Aux. Post #12024.

Mary Lou was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. She greatly enjoyed reading and crocheting and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her time meditating and being in prayer. Mary Lou also greatly enjoyed baking and making jelly and canning vegetables.

She was preceded in death by father, John Thomas Smith; mother, Isabel Solis Smith; her husband, Ronald Keith McCurley, Sr.; her son, Ronald Keith McCurley, Jr.; sister, Ruby Louise Smith; mother-in-law, Ethel Crawford McCurley; father-in-law, Ballard McCurley; brother-in-law, James McCurley; sister-in-law, Judy Lyon; stepson, Brian Amos; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Hoke.

She is survived by her granddaughter and husband, April and Les Frodsham; sisters, Helen Ward (Dale), Carolyn Smith Oaks (Patrick), Lillian Solis Smith (Harvey), Judith Smith Chavez (Val); brothers, John Wayne Smith (Renata), and Dennis Smith (Rita), a wonderful friend, Maggie, her beloved pet, Blondie; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel.
