Mary A. Blanchfield (Sheats), 82, of
Middletown, Delaware, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, leaving behind a life beautifully lived and memories that will forever be cherished.
Born on January 1, 1943, in New Castle, DE, she was the daughter of the late Gertrude Jamison. Mary was lovingly raised alongside her cousins by her Aunt Betty and Uncle Rick Lloyd, who instilled in her the importance of family, kindness, and togetherness.
In January 1961, Mary married the love of her life, George A. Blanchfield, Sr., and together they built a beautiful family centered around love, laughter, and closeness. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary took immense pride in caring for her home and being there for every milestone in her family's lives.
Mary had the biggest heart. She loved listening to classic country music, watching her daily soap operas, shopping (especially on Black Friday), and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sitting around the kitchen table with a cup of coffee, reminiscing about the "old days" - sharing stories filled with laughter and tears. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and no one could ever top the magic she created for everyone she loved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, George A. Blanchfield, Sr., and her "sister," Nancy Webster (Lloyd).
Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend - and her favorite name of all, Nana.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Heverin of
Middletown, DE; George Blanchfield, Jr. and wife Paulette of Delaware City, DE; Dawn Burge and husband Ron Sr. of Smyrna, DE; and Steven Blanchfield and fiancée Karen of Townsend, DE; and her nephew Roy Blanchfield. She was "Mom-Mom" to ten grandchildren - Casey, Holli, Melanie, Ron Jr., Brittany, Shelbee, Al, Zack, Reese, and Madison - and "Nana" to fourteen great-grandchildren - Brianna, Haidyn, Harlee, Bryson, Zona, Jacob, Nolan, Lucas, Georgi, Evelynn, Caelynn, Olivia, Brayden, and Gannon.
Viewing for friends and family will be held on Saturday, November 15th beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in
Middletown, DE. Mary will be laid to rest in Townsend Cemetery.
Mary's love, warmth, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
