Wichmann Funeral Home - Jansen Fargo Funeral HomeMary A. Otte, age 74, passed away at home on June 28th, 2025. She was born on May 15th, 1951, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin where she attended and graduated from Kaukauna High School. Mary lived most of her life at her residents in Combined Locks where she raised her two children. She attended For Valley Technical College early in her working career and obtained an associate’s degree. She worked for many years at U.S. Oil Company in Combined Locks, but later moved to her brother in law’s tax firm in Oshkosh. There she spent years working with her sister Linda, which she loved immensely, until her retirement in 2016.
Mary’s love of reading and books was second to none and she likely read over 4,000 books in her life. She loved heavy metal and country music. A true highlight of her passion for heavy metal was when she enjoyed a Metallica concert with her son Bill. Mary was an expert at cross stitch and enjoyed making everything from stockings to works of art for the wall. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and for the last couple of years loved to watch her grandson Cole play hockey and baseball. Those that knew her, knew she was fiercely independent and loved the quietness of her retired life.
Mary is survived by her children Bill (Erin Parkinson) Heindel of Kimberly and Ellen (Scott Huff) Heindel of Kimberly, her sister Nancy (Joe) Marsh of Mountain, her bother Bob (Lynn) Otte of Appleton, her sister-in-law Donna Otte of Kaukauna, grandchildren Brittany Heindel and Cole Heindel, and one great-grandchild Sam Kitson. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Norbert and Jean (Reynolds) Otte, her sister Linda Kneepkins, her brother George Otte, and her brother-in-law Tom Kneepkins. She will be greatly missed by those she left behind, but we know she is reunited with family until we see her again. Mom, we love you to the moon and back….and now beyond.
There will be a celebration of Mary's life on August 15, 2025, from 2-5pm at Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E Kimberly Ave, Kimberly WI 54136.
