Mary Sanderson Obituary

Mary Elizabeth (Hatch) Sanderson, age 90, passed away peacefully after a brief illness in the early morning hours of Friday, August 1,2025, in the comfort of her home with her daughter and son by her side She was born January 6,1935, to the late Ben Hooper and Lizzie Cody Hatch in Henderson County. She attended school in Henderson County and graduated with distinction as Valedictorian of the Class of 1953 from Lexington High School. She worked at Lexington Metal for 23 years as the receptionist and later as the production scheduler. In 1982, she and her husband, Brooksie Sanderson, began a new venture with the opening of Brooksie's Barn and operated it for approximately 20 years. During this time, she also operated Party Catering which catered to singers and performers that played at Oman Arena in Jackson. After Brooksie's passing in 2004, she moved to Huron to live closer to her family. Up until recent years, she worked in her yard daily maintaining pristine flowerbeds. Mary is preceded in death by her brother; Thomas Levi Hatch, husband; Brooksie Sanderson and sister-in-law; Sally Hatch. She is survived by her daughter; Deborah Kay (Bill) Brown of Franklin, son; Michael (Tina) Woods of Huron and the lights of her life; her 3 grandchildren; Brandon (Misty) Woods, Taylor Woods (Madison) Blankenship and Macy Woods (Dalton) Smith, a great-grandaughter; Sophie Blankenship, a brother; Tony Hatch, a niece; Amanda Duggin and a nephew; Burt Hatch. Funeral services will be Monday, August 4 at 2PM at Reed's Chapel with burial to follow in the Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson. Visitation will be Sunday 4PM-7PM and Monday 12PM until the time of service.
