Mary C. (Timmins) ""Cap"" Schaffner Platteville, WI - Mary C. "Cap" Schaffner, 87, of Platteville, Wisconsin, formerly of Leadmine, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. Patrick's Church in Benton, Wisconsin, with the Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service. Mary was born on August 15, 1937 in Leadmine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Emmett and Vera (Sell) Timmins. She graduated from Benton High School and then earned her nursing degree. She was united in marriage to Thomas P. "Tommy" Schaffner on January 28, 1967 at St. Patrick's Church, Benton, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2023.

Mary worked at Madison General Hospital for a few years before spending the rest of her career, until retirement, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, Wisconsin, where she and Tommy raised their three children. She and Tommy loved traveling, especially with family. Mary was an avid reader, loved baking and going to the casino, and was a longtime fan of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. Known for her selflessness, Mary always put the needs of others before her own.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Rambr) Emrich, Hollandale, WI, and Susan (Jody) Lindsey, Savannah, GA; one son, Paul Schaffner, Dubuque, IA; a brother, Charles "Charlie" Timmins, Dousman, WI; a brother-in-law, George Gray; a sister-in-law, Judy Timmins; six grandchildren, Jaron, Jasmine, Noah, Eryn, Bryna and Lisa; one great-grandchild, Jaxton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Schaffner; a sister, Margaret Gray; and a brother, Jim Timmins.

Memorials in Mary's name may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Agrace Hospice and Southwest Health Platteville; her friend, Sherry, for all of her care; and grandchildren Jaron and Jasmine for their devotion to Grandma.
