Mary Lou Steritz, age 95, passed away at her home in Lake Village, AR on July 14, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1930 at her home in Buford, Oh, the only child of Herman J. and Bernice (Boyd) Rosselott. Her parents instilled a love for music in Mary Lou who was both a musician and a vocalist. She used her musical talents throughout her life in her churches and in her communities and instilled that love for music in her children. She graduated from Lynchburg High School and attended Western College in Oxford, OH before her marriage to David W. Steritz on April 9, 1949. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynchburg, OH for many years and later became a member of the
Hillsboro, OH Church of Christ. After relocating to Arkansas in 1998, she was a faithful attender of the First Baptist Church in Greenville, MS and Lake Village Baptist Church. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker for her family that grew to 6 children and was actively involved in the farm operation. She enjoyed many activities including playing cards with friends and grandchildren, ceramics, quilting and gardening. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US and foreign countries with agricultural groups to advance their family farm operation. While Mary Lou was an only child, she enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and had a true gift of hospitality. After suffering a stroke in 2010, she remained active and hosted weekly card games in her home until just prior to her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, David W. Steritz in 2016. She is survived by her six children, Nancy (Ronald) Dorton of Washington Court House, OH; Carol (John) Stinson of Waynesville, OH; Linda Risley of Springboro, OH; James (Jacque) Steritz of Lake Village, AR; Susan (Charles) Moss of Gainesville, FL; and Mary Ann (Michael) Carson of Washington Court House, OH. She had 21 Grandchildren including Rebecca Johnston, David Dorton, Deborah Johnson, Sarah Sowell, Jonathon Dorton, Kevin Stinson, Catherine Hendricks, Michael Stinson, Julie Stinson, Jana Risley, Elizabeth Jones, Nathan Steritz, Daniel Steritz, Alexander Moss, Jennifer Tetzlaff, Christopher Moss, Anna Hyland, Meri Grace Willoughby, Graham Carson, Garrett Carson, Gabriel Carson, and 22 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ. Tim Chennault will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of Christ. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
