Mary Ann Swanson ObituaryMary Ann Swanson (nee Moon), age 67, passed away peacefully at her home on July 16, 2025. Born on December 16, 1957, in Euclid, Ohio, Mary Ann was a longtime resident of Eastlake, where she built a life centered on love, friendship, and devotion to those she held dear.
During her school years, Mary was active and involved-she enjoyed running track, working in the school library, and proudly served as the team manager for the boys' tennis team at Eastlake North High School. Her strong work ethic was evident early on through her many jobs, including as a server at Ponderosa Steak House, bussing tables at the Patrician Party Center, and working in the shoe department at KMart. Later, she worked as a pharmacy cashier at Rite Aid in Willowick, where her warm smile and kind demeanor left a lasting impression on customers and coworkers alike.
Mary Ann was the adored mother of Jill Marie Swanson, Holly (Matt) Powalie, and Fredrick Swanson. She found immense joy in being a proud grandmother to Matthew and Modd Powalie, and Freddie and Isaiah Swanson. She was a loving sister to Richard (Candice) Moon, Allan (Teresa) Moon, Deborah (Tom) Randazzo, Mike (Danielle) Moon, and David "Randy" (Marisela) Moon. Mary also shared many meaningful years with her former beloved husband, Fred Swanson, and was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Mary attended Suburban Christian Church in Richmond Heights until its closing, and later became a member of Willowick Baptist Church, where she continued to grow her faith and form cherished friendships.
Mary also found joy in staying active and social. She was a long-time participant in adult co-ed volleyball and, in more recent years, found great pleasure in indoor badminton matches, lively ping pong games, and warm coffee chats with friends at her apartment complex.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving parents, Wesley and Delores Moon (nee Martney), and is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of Mary Ann's life on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street, Mentor, OH, for visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 7:30 PM.
Mary's gentle soul, caring nature, and joyful spirit touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
