Matthew Barnes Obituary

Matthew Ryan Barnes, age 46, passed away on July 26 at Henry Ford Hospital. The son of Carol Amemiya and Neil Barnes was born in Midland, Michigan on June 11, 1979. He is survived by his parents and his brother Justin and his wife Angelina and their sons, Noah and Kieran. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the James Madison School at Michigan State University and a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University. Matt was an exceptional cook, something he loved doing with his mother. He was also an avid camper and hiker. He loved the outdoors. He loved his dog. Marshall. who was his constant companion. Matt was a loving son, a caring brother, and an adoring uncle. Matt loved to play the piano and music filled his soul.

A memorial service to celebrate Matt's life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 405 North Saginaw Road, followed by a time to gather and share memories. His family will also receive friends at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. If you would like to make any donations, please consider a pet rescue or animal shelter.
