Matthew Watson Obituary

Matthew Paul Watson, 26, of Fulton, passed away in a tragic accident on February 12, 2025.
He was born in Columbia, Missouri on February 5, 1999 to Mike and Janna Watson.
Matthew grew up in Columbia and graduated from Battle High School in 2017. He was united in marriage to Megan Hildreth on November 18, 2021. In 2022, Matthew began employment as a Corrections Officer at the Fulton Diagnostic Center eventually getting promoted to Sergeant at the Tipton Prison in 2024.
Matthew was an intellectually gifted young man who loved exploring the realms of technology and computer gaming. He had a passion for old military collectibles, including watches, knives and lighters. His spontaneity and adventurous personality will be deeply missed.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife Megan Hildreth of Fulton; parents, Mike and Janna Watson of Columbia; sister Lindy Nofsinger (Nick) of Raytown; brothers, Gregory Watson of Columbia, Duke Newsted of Weston, nephew Kace and niece Mila, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
