Maudeen Pickett, 92, passed away June 30, 2025. She was born to Lymon William Frady Jr. and Jane Maude (Bartlett) Frady in Horatio, Arkansas on April 20, 1933. She was a star basketball and volleyball player at Horatio High School. She continued her athletic activities later in life participating in city basketball and softball in Mesquite, Texas, where her teams won several city championships.
Maudeen married her husband, Houston Pickett, on July 31,1952 in Horatio, Arkansas. She worked and retired from the federal government in the Department of Health and Human Services as Grant Management Specialist. For the family business, Quality Furniture & Appliances, she handled Accounting and Payroll functions. Beginning in 1962, she became an active member of Mimosa Lane Baptist Church. She led GA's, worked with the youth ministry, Women's Missionary Union, and served on various committees. Maudeen also served as the Church Secretary and Pastor's Secretary. She had a heart for service and often opened her home to youth ministers who worked part time at the church. She enjoyed traveling around the world with family and friends. She was an avid reader, loved watching old movies, and was a member of the Garden Club. She went back to school and received her Bachelor's Degree from UTD in her forties. Maudeen loved to stay busy.
She is preceded in death by her husband Houston Pickett; father Lymon William Frady Jr.; mother Jane Maude (Bartlett) Frady; sisters Winona (Frady) Armer and Laura Ann (Frady) Autrey; and brother Danny Frady.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Stan and Mary Jo Pickett; son Stacy Pickett; grandchildren Chris Pickett and wife Loyce, Caitlin Barrick and husband Jordan, Bonnie Pickett, and Collin Pickett; great-grandchildren Aisley and Harper Pickett, Cora and Ezra Barrick; brother and sisters-in-law John Frady and wife Nedra and David Frady and wife Janice, along with several nieces and nephews.
