Maureen Rose (Gaffney) Kornacki, born on July 22, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, in her hometown, surrounded by love. She was a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose radiant spirit touched everyone she met.
Maureen was the beloved daughter of Francis and Leona Gaffney. Growing up in South Milwaukee, she was known for her kindness, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends. She married Ronald Kornacki, and together they created a loving home filled with warmth and support. Although she was preceded in death by Ronald, as well as her twin sister Kathleen Hanneman and brother-in-law John Hanneman, Maureen's legacy lives on through her devoted family.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary (Chris) Wenger, and her son, Michael (Angela) Kornacki. Maureen was a proud grandmother to her four grandchildren: Simon, Dominick, Bella, and Cooper, who brought immense joy to her life and whom she adored deeply. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Phillip (Kathy) Gaffney, along with beloved nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were fortunate to know her.
Maureen's love for her family was boundless, and her nurturing spirit knew no limits. She was a constant source of encouragement, offering her wisdom and support through life's challenges.
In her later years, Maureen faced health challenges, but she did so with incredible strength and grace. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing and CNA staff at Aurora St Luke's Hospital and Hospice, who provided exemplary care to Maureen during her time of need. Your compassion and dedication were a source of comfort to her and her family, for which they are eternally grateful.
A celebration of life will be held to honor her life at a later date, as per her wishes. As we say goodbye to Maureen, we celebrate a well-lived life, filled with love, laughter, and joy. She leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Rest in peace, dear Maureen. You will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew you.
