Maureen Demorest Martin, born on July 25, 1930, in Elmhurst, Illinois passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, in Lutz, Florida, at the age of 95.

Being from Chicago, she was a diehard Cubs fan and her personal goal in life was to see the Cubs win the pennant which they did in 2016! At the age of 15, Maureen moved to Lutz when her father came home and announced to his young family that he had purchased 60 acres of orange grove in the wilderness of Florida called "Lutz". Maureen finished her education at Hillsborough High school. Maureen married the love of her life in July of 1957 and was married for 36 years to Duane "Charlie" Martin. The newlyweds truly embraced the country's lifestyle by always having farm animals, horses and a large vegetable garden (truly the first farm-to-table concept) Maureen and Duane had a unique collection of antique radios and mid-century memorabilia. She had an eye for artwork by the "Highway Men" and collected many of their pieces. Our Mother was of Jewish Heritage but embraced Jesus and a Christian lifestyle. We will be forever indebted to her for that.

Maureen is preceded in death by her parents, David L. Demorest and Miriam Cohen Demorest, her brother Warren Demorest, and her sister, Zerhyl Helminski. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her son, Gary and his wife Sheryl Martin. Her grandchildren Kyle and Rylee. Her daughter, Sharon, her husband Wayne Altman and their children Lauren & Kyle. A private graveside service will be held to honor Maureen at the Lutz Cemetery. Our Mother was a strong and unique person. We loved and appreciated her and the life that she and our father gave us.

Blessings,

Gary Martin & Sharon Martin Altman
