It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mauricio Castro, who departed this life surrounded by his loved ones on July 5, 2025, at the age of 63. Mauricio was born on June 22, 1962, in El Salvador, to Elsy Castro (deceased) and Maria Irene Ramirez. He was the brother of Mercedes, Irma, Alexander, Freddy, Juan Carlos, and Miriam Castro.

Mauricio was married to Alicia Tapia for 37 years and a father to five children - Maricela, Yolanda, Mauricio Jr, Joshua, and Caroline, and a devoted grandfather of eleven - Elaina, Nina, Kaiya, Josh, Jr, Liliana, Zeke, Diana, Daisy, Liam, Aiden, and Evan. He was also considered a second father to many nieces and nephews who will miss him deeply.

Mauricio leaves behind a legacy of love, unity, and compassion. His spirit will live on in the values he instilled, the memories we share, and the love that continues to bind this family together. Though we feel his absence deeply, we are also grateful — grateful for the years we had with him, for the lessons he taught us, and for the unshakable love.

A funeral service will be held on July 12, 2025, from 11 am to 3 pm at Puente & Sons Funeral Home.

A family gathering will be held after the service at Hector & Maribel Tapia’s home to celebrate his life.

The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to 11030 Wood Terrace, Live Oak, TX 78233.
