Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend Max Edwin Degelbeck passed away on July 19, 2025, after struggling with Alzheimer's /Dementia for more than 16 years. Max was born on March 22, 1946, in Lehi UT to Edwin John Degelbeck and Helen Clara Jorgensen. Max is the father of 4 children; Julie (Biff) Groskreutz, Jenny (Richard) Orr, Clay (Diana) Degelbeck and Denise Degelbeck. He is the proud grandpa of 12 grandchildren, that he lived his life for, and 14 great-grandchildren. Max grew up in Ophir, Utah, among a tight knit group of family and friends. They lived a great childhood creating many memories while roaming the hills, snow sleighing, attending school in the 2- room schoolhouse, playing games, hiking and doing what kids do. Ooh, the stories we have heard. He loved Ophir Canyon and always wanted to be there. As part of his love for Ophir Max was an active part of the group that organized, built, maintained, and was a host for many visitors at the Ophir Historic Site. As a young man Max loved playing baseball, hunting, camping, building things, visiting family, picnicking, playing cards, shooting, and hanging out around those he loved. He loved his horses and missed having them once they were gone. Dad was a giver of "good gifts" he always gave a gift that you knew he picked especially for you. "Wanna go bumming" or "Let's go get a Coke" were questions Dad asked his kids and grandkids often. These little outings often brought life lessons, strength, and laughter to your life. Dad was an incredible marksman. He could shoot anything from anywhere. Max's family knew that they could count on him for whatever they needed. If you mentioned a household project you could count on Dad to show up in the next few days with his tools in hand and the supplies in his truck. He was always happy and willing to serve his family, friends, and community. He was a skilled framer and electrician until dementia clouded his mind. Max was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin John Degelbeck and Helen Clara Jorgensen, two sisters, DeAnna and Mary Alice, and two great-grandchildren, Havyn Lee and Landon Clay. We want to "Thank" Diamond Janes and Quality Hospice. A special note of appreciation to Ali, Brianna, Tricia, Emily, Aon, Julia, Amanda & Dr. Parker for their professional compassionate care and Dr. Jon Atkins, Dad always trusted you. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 am at the Stockton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ward building, with a viewing prior from 10:00am to 10:45am. Viewing on Friday, July 25 at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah, from 6pm-8pm. Until we meet again Dad!
