Max Toth Obituary

Max David Toth, 86, of Roseville, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the Oaks at Bethesda in Zanesville, Ohio under the care of Shriver's Hospice. Born on October 11, 1938, in Bearfield Township, Perry County, Max's journey through life was marked by a steadfast devotion to his loved ones, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the natural world that surrounded him. Max's early years were spent in the rolling hills of Perry County, specifically Bearfield Township, then at the age of 4 moved to Muskingum County/ Roseville where he developed a love for the outdoors that would remain with him throughout his life. He was the son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Seese) Toth and grew up alongside his brother, Marcus Toth, and his late sister, Erma E. Findeiss. A proud veteran, Max served his country for nine years in the United States Army, with stations in Korea and Japan, which were among the many experiences that shaped his character and resolve. Upon returning to civilian life, he embarked on a career as a laborer with Goudl National Battery and then later at PCA, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service and as a logger. Max was a devout Christian and a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Roseville. His faith was a constant in his life, guiding him through the joys and challenges he encountered along the way. Max was a man of diverse interests. He was a member of the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, and he had a special talent for building guns. His handcrafted long rifles and muzzle loaders were not only functional but works of art, admired by all who had the privilege to see them. Max's love for fishing was well-known; he was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished the peace and excitement that came with the sport. Max's legacy lives on through his loving family. He was a devoted husband to his late wife of 49 years, Lenora (Marple) Toth, and a loving father to his daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalyn (Robert) Ronshausen and Crystal (Ron) Rayner; grandchildren, Kayla (Adam) Dailey, Levi (Cassidy) Britton, Dalton (Kiersten) Britton, Andrew Rayner, and Allison Rayner, and his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Leo, Elias, Jiriaya, and Adeline. Calling hours will be held Saturday August 2, 2025, from 11:00 am – 1:00pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 92 N. Main Street, Roseville, where services will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Al Laese officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Roseville American Legion Post 71 Presenting military honors. Ross-Frash Funeral Home, Roseville, is honored to care for the Max Toth family.
