San Diego, Texas CASTILLO Maximino "Max" Castillo, 78, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in San Diego, Texas. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Max was born in Laredo, Texas, to his parents, Jose Castillo and Librada Lara. A skilled worker, Max specialized in carpentry but had a talent for building and repairing nearly anything. He had a great appreciation for music and loved to sing! Max was an active member of Primera Iglesia Bautista, where he served as a devoted man of God. He often led the Sunday worship services with hymns and scripture readings, sharing his faith with those around him. Max was also known for his love of Mexican restaurants, particularly enjoying meals at El Jalisciense in San Diego. No meal was complete without coffee and pan dulce for dessert! When he wasn't working or enjoying good food, Max could be found watching a western show or movie, his favorite genre. Max was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. We will especially miss receiving his calls, asking us to pick up a Whataburger on our way home. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Garcia Castillo and Librada Lara; daughter, Helen Castillo; brother, Daniel Castillo. Maximino is survived by his wife, Maria Castillo of San Diego, Texas; four sons, Luciano (Maribel) Castillo of Dale, Texas, Mario A. Castillo of San Diego, Texas, Max (Carmen) Castillo of Alice, Texas, Billy Castillo of San Diego, Texas; three daughters, Zulma (Scott) McCall of Houston, Texas, Jennifer (Joaquin) Galan of San Diego, Texas, Jenessa (Juan) Carrizales of Corpus Christi, Texas; five brothers, Mario (Lucia) Castillo, Jose Luis Castillo, Jose Trinidad Castillo, Angel (Dora) Castillo, Marcos (Carmen) Castillo; five sisters, Elodia Salinas, Armandina "Nina" Castillo, Romana Alejandra Castillo, Nicole Macy Saenz, Doris (Omar) Gonzalez; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at First Baptist Church in San Diego, Texas with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. that morning. Internment will follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas. Anyone wishing to leave condolences for the family may do so at www.garzafuneralhome.com.
