Mary Maxine McCullough, 94, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at Medicalodge Coffeyville on Midland.
She was born on September 13, 1930, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Maxwell and Mary (Callahan) Mahoney. Maxine grew up and attended school in Coffeyville attending Holy Name Catholic School and Field Kindley High School.
Maxine began working at Coffeyville Memorial Hospital when it opened in 1949 and continued working there for several years.
On August 16, 1951, she married Royal J. McCullough at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. In 1965 they started McCullough Plumbing where Maxine was bookkeeper for many years. In 1982 she began working delivery medicine for the pharmacies in Coffeyville in 2004 she purchased the business continuing as a delivery driver until retiring and selling the business to her daughter-in-law Chris.
Maxine was a lifetime member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and a member of Holy Name Altar Society and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge with several different bridge groups.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. James McCullough and wife Leslie of Stillwell, Mark McCullough and wife Chris of Coffeyville, and David McCullough and wife Kerry of Overland Park, her daughter-in-law Vicki McCullough of Coffeyville; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Maxwell and Mary Mahoney, her husband Royal McCullough, two sons John McCullough and Brian McCullough, and grandson Connor McCullough.
A Rosary Prayer Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church, 408 Willow St. in Coffeyville with Father Drew Dellasega and Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials in Maxine's memory to Holy Name Catholic Church or Holy Name Catholic Campaign; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
