May Elizabeth Danko, 99, of La Junta, Colorado passed away October 22, 2025, at Bent County Healthcare Center in Las Animas, Colorado; 2 years and 4 days after her late husband Peter Danko. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Joseph & Luella (Moore) Ketrow.
From Pennsylvania to New Jersey at a young age May was the eldest of 11 children and the last to join her seven sisters and four brothers. May helped take care of her siblings up until an early age, married George Fazekas, and with this union two sons were born, George Jr. and John “Jack”.
May became a beautician at an early age and always wanted to work aboard a cruise ships.
In 1962, May met Peter Danko Sr. and on March 16, 1963, became a blended family of five. Later adding a son, Joesph, to the Danko bunch. She will be remembered as an excellent cook, enjoyed entertaining Family and friends, was the bookkeeper for many years for their business Pete’s repair and P&M Trucking Inc.
May is survived by children, Peter (Debbie) Danko, Jr, Karen (Terry) Menges, Gayle (Kenneth) Eveatt, and Joseph Danko; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Danko, Sr.; parents, Joseph & Luella Ketrow; sons, George & Jack Fazekas, her brothers and sisters, and daughter-in-law, Jane Danko.
Per May's request, no services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Arkansas Valley Hospice or to a charity of choice.
