Maynard Browning Obituary

Maynard Dean Browning, 88, was embraced in the loving arms of the Lord on June 30, 2025. Born on February 5, 1937 in Louisiana, MO, Maynard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Beverly, his daughters, Debbie and Brenda, son-in laws Bryan and Paul, and grandchildren, Joshua, Katie, Logan, and Jack.
A visitation will be held at Ferry's Funeral Home on Monday, July 7th at 10:00 am, with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Donations are kindly requested to be directed to the American Heart Association and First Christian Church Youth Ministry.
Maynard graduated from Memphis High School in 1954 and played the trombone in the high school band. He went on to attend the University of Missouri where he graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Management.
In August 1959, Maynard married Beverly Louise Bartels at a ceremony in Kahoka, MO. Through their 65 years of marriage, they built a loving family, traveled often with friends, formed close bonds with many while pursuing their numerous hobbies and interests, and fostered a love for life and a commitment to each other.
Maynard entered the U.S. Army in October 1959 and completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. After basic, he served as a mechanic in Company D, 8th Engineering Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, where he subsequently deployed to South Korea for a 13-month tour of duty. He worked in the Division's motor pool and was responsible for the material readiness of the vehicles and equipment used to maintain the new Armistice with the North. During his time deployed, he wrote often to Beverly who remained in Quincy, IL working as a recent graduate Registered Nurse.
After the Army, Maynard was employed with the Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, OH as a Material Handling Foreman and earned a M.S. in Industrial Management from the University of Akron. In 1966, he joined 3M, first in Cleveland, and then transferred to Nevada in 1971 as a founding member of the management team for the new plant. Maynard worked 31 years at 3M in many roles to include Production Control, Office Manager and Purchasing & Transportation.
Maynard was a long-time member of the First Christian Church having served as a Board Member and in other leadership positions, always helping the Church and the Community he loved to grow in its understanding of Christ and its service to one another.
As a life-long car enthusiast, Maynard loved Packards. He knew every model, color, feature, and driving virtue and frequently talked about the red 1956 Clipper Hardtop that was his dream car that he still hoped to own one day. Maynard enjoyed RV camping, golf, and the occasional cappuccino coffee that fueled his pursuits. He was also a woodworker who mastered the art of turning segmented bowls in which he created exquisite pieces that adorn his home and that of his friends and family. One of his great joys was spending time in his shop working with his grandchildren and passing on his love of tools and a passion for creativity that guides them today.
Through his life, Maynard touched the lives of many and left indelible footprints for us to follow. The memory of his love, kindness, humility, and devotion will always be in our hearts.
