Melique Joseph Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by E.W. Lawson & Son Funeral Home - Palm Coast on Nov. 6, 2025.
Melique Chadrick Julian Joseph, affectionately known as "Lique," was born on January 5th 2006, at Ormond Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, Florida. Even as a baby Melique was playful and full of joy. Family often talked about how he would always wake up smiling.
Raised by a village, Melique began his educational journey at Imagine School at Town Center, where he excelled academically and athletically, earning the Distinguished Principal's Award and running cross-country track.
He went on to graduate from Flagler Palm Coast High School (FPC), where his athletic talent and leadership truly shined.
At FPC, Melique was a dedicated and formidable athlete. As a member of the football team's defensive line, proudly wearing number 35, he helped lead the Bulldogs to a remarkable 9–2 record his senior year and earned Player of the Game honors twice. He also made his mark on the track and field team in the shot put, and as a wrestler, he was a true standout-finishing his senior season with a 29–12 record, 20 pins, and several major decisions. Melique became the FHSAA 3A Region 1 Champion, placed second at districts, second at the Five Star Conference Championship, and first at the War Eagle Classic.
Following high school, Melique continued to pursue his goals and dreams. Obtaining employment in the mental health field with DAJ Homes and Carter's Healthcare. He was also currently enrolled at Daytona State College, working toward his Associate's Degree, demonstrating the same dedication and determination that defined him in every aspect of life.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Melique was an integral part of the Destined for Greatness Ministries family, where he faithfully served as the video technician. His commitment to ministry extended far beyond his technical duties-Melique could always be found lending a hand wherever needed, from assisting with building projects to managing sound and ensuring every service ran smoothly. He was also an exceptional adjutant, serving with excellence both in his local Destined for Greatness Churchand within the National Vision Covenant Connection Fellowship. His servant's heart, reliability, and joyful presence made him a cornerstone of the ministry.
Melique leaves to cherish his, loving parents Kaleena Cox-Joseph, Gessica Joseph, and Chadrick D. Joseph. His beloved siblings Chazae Joseph, Isaiah Joseph, Karina Marcelus, and Donaldo Joseph, and honorary brothers to Caleb Moy, Donqurain Proctor and Ricardo Saintasse. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandparents Debra Joseph and Rodney Luckett; godparents Frederick A.Lawrence, William Jamison, Tyeisha Luckett, and Cassandra Saintasse; Aunts: Tyshia, Rodesha, Andrea, Tynesha, Shalaunda, Kettia, Natalie, Doja and Madison Uncles, Jamar Terrence, Keith, David and Ricardo. I knew Melique for quite the time, we both attended Imagine Schools together. He was the goofiest and funniest kid I knew. It´s heartbreaking and surreal he was taken so early but forever he will be remembered by his peers. I remember seeing Melique at the gym not even a month before his death. Now that I think about, I should´ve said hey and asked how he was doing. May he rest in peace.

He really grew into someone I respected. Back when I was just the quiet kid on the football team in sophomore year, Malik brought me into his friend group. That meant everything. He had this way of making me laugh no matter what. I remember one time he tried to set me up with a girl-she was a few years older-and he pointed to the wrong one at first. Then he spun me around to the real one, and I was just standing there, embarrassed and cracking up. I felt so dumb, but it was hilarious.
Afterward, he checked in on me, told me to come back because things were about to get goofy again. I didn´t end up getting with anyone-I´ve never had a girlfriend-but he always tried. He wanted me to feel what love was. And when things got serious, he was there. If someone tried to mess with Malik, me, Big E, or Malachi, we had each other´s backs. No one touched one of us without facing all of us back then !
Now that he´s gone, it feels like that bond we had-the group we built-faded. But I know a part of him still lingers. Malik didn´t just leave us. He became something more. A spirit watching over, still part of us in every laugh, every memory, every time we stand up for each other. He´s not gone. He´s just moved into the part of life that never dies.
Love you brother and always may the god father and you watch over all us brothers and sisters

My heart hurts to write this. Saying goodbye to Melique feels painfully premature. He was "play cousins" with my kids, and he took that role to heart-showing up with respect, kindness, and a quiet steadiness that made him a joy to behold. Even at 19, he carried himself with a maturity that lifted the room. We are grateful for the light he shared and the way he loved.

We mourn with you, but not as those without hope. Because Christ is the Resurrection and the Life, we trust that death does not have the final word. That hope doesn´t erase the ache, but it does hold us while we weep. We will honor Melique by carrying his light forward.

Malique has been called too early! He had a bright future ahead of him. As his college professor it was a pleasure to talk to him.

I am heartbroken for a life taken much too soon. He always had a smile and a kind word. His future was so bright. Love and peace to his family.
