Melissa Jacob Obituary

Melissa Lynn Jacob, passed away on June 1, 2025, at the age of 55, due to complications from Acute Interstitial Pneumonia. She was surrounded by her loving family in Poughkeepsie, New York, at the time of her passing. Born on September 7, 1969, in Alpena, Michigan, Melissa's warmth and vivacity were evident from an early age.
Melissa's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for helping others. She is survived by her fiancé, John Palmer, her proud sons, Bryant and Caleb Jacob, and her brother, Elijah Diemond, along with his wife, Erin Diemond. Her loving presence will also be profoundly missed by her father, Glenn Diemond, her mother, Deborah Siess, and her cherished grandmother, Zenolia Caplan.
Melissa's academic pursuits led her to earn an associate degree in clinical care and psychology, a foundation that would underpin her lifelong commitment to social work. Her professional journey was characterized by compassion and resilience, as she provided guidance and support to countless individuals as a social worker at Gateway and M.H.A of Ulster County. Her colleagues and those she served will remember her for her empathy, her tireless work ethic, and her ability to bring hope to the most challenging situations.
Melissa loved hiking relishing the beauty of nature. Boating was another of Melissa's joys, offering her moments of peace and adventure on the water. One of her most treasured pastimes was watching football with her family, a tradition that not only spoke to her love of the sport but also to the importance she placed on spending quality time with her loved ones.
Melissa's legacy is one of love, service, and the countless lives she touched with her generosity of spirit. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. As we say goodbye to Melissa, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy, a life that exemplified the power of human kindness. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, as we hold her close in our hearts.
