Melvin Keith Brown went to be with his heavenly father on Friday, July 11, 2025. He was born December 13, 1936 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Frank and Ethel Brown. He asked Jesus to be his Savior at the age of 11. He had strong faith and prayed earnestly for his own father's salvation which followed shortly. Melvin was deeply moved by Romans 10:14
How then can they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? .... As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!"
This led him to attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Barton. They were married on August 14, 1958, and began a life dedicated to Jesus and helping others which included loving their family. Ronda was born September 12, 1959, and Renee on March 23, 1962. Mel and Barb served the Lord pastoring several churches in Idaho, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado and Missouri. Pastor Brown was fondly loved by countless numbers of people. There will be many in heaven because of his tireless work "preaching the gospel of peace."
He loved and greatly enjoyed time with his daughters growing up, then his grandchildren. Our Dad and Papa was endlessly supportive, a faithful husband to his wife, and a tireless encourager to his family. Above all, his character was marked with kindness and gentleness, evidence of the Holy Spirit in his life. He was deeply proud of his family and loved them well.
He was preceded in death by parents Frank and Ethel Brown, wife Barbara Brown and sister Joann Wicks.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and David Baker, daughter and son-in-law Renee and Brian Grey, Grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Kyle Emory, Tyler and Shelby Baker, Jason and Amanda Grey, Brandon and Mary Grey, Kyle and Jessica Grey, Derek and Chloe Grey, and five great-grandchildren: Griffin, Reagan, Reid, Silas, and Joshua.
