Melvin E. Miller, 84, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday (December 12, 2024) at his home.
He was born December 21, 1939 in Pink WV, son of the late Edward Miller and Bessie (Lesher) Smith.
Melvin retired from Kurz Kash, a plastics plant in Newcomerstown, after many years of service. He had also worked as an underground coal miner for several years. Above all else, Melvin was a farmer – he loved farming dearly and especially loved his cows.
He enjoyed hunting rabbits, squirrels, and deer. He also liked watching old westerns and Star Trek.

He served in the Army's Ohio National Guard from 1958 to 1964.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roma, Beulah, Raymond, Francis, Ray, Betty, Roy, Grace, Martha, and Jean.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Christine (Garan) Miller, whom he married June 11, 1994; his son, Melvin E. (& Sandy) Miller Jr. of Cambridge; his two daughters, Tammy K. Miller (& Tod Potopsky - whom Melvin thought of like a son) of Kimbolton and Kara Miller of Barberton; five grandchildren; many dear nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Penny.
Visitation will be held Thursday (December 19, 2024) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
Funeral services will be held at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Pleasant City, on Friday (December 20, 2024) at 10 a.m. with Pastor Chris Cahill officiating.
