Melvin Robbins, 83, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:28 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.
Born April 9, 1942, in Scottsburg, he was the son of the late Fred and Margorie (Golden) Robbins. He married Virginia Mae Robbins on January 14, 1971, in Hope; she preceded him in death on April 24, 2019.
Melvin was a 1960 graduate of Deputy High School, and he retired from Reliance Electric in 2002, after 40 years. After retirement he worked for Mike Nelson Farming. He was a member of Scipio Presbyterian Church. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and mowing grass.
He is survived by his son, Keith (Dorothy) Robbins of Columbus, his daughter, Kathy Sue (Steve) Robbins-Piper of North Vernon; brother, Danny (Kim) Robbins of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Lauren Burton and Maranda (Doug) Abney, both of Columbus, and Stephanie Jacobs, of North Vernon and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Marvin and Roger Robbins; grandchild, Katlin Piper and stepdaughter, Darla Bland.
A funeral service for Melvin will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating.. The visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the start of the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Melvin through the funeral home to the Alzheimer's Association.
