In Loving Memory of Mercedes Contreras Zavala Sunrise: July 30, 1956 - Sunset: June 20, 2025
Mercedes Contreras Zavala, age 68, of Riverside, California, sadly passed away on June 20, 2025, at Riverside Community Hospital. A devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved sister, Mercedes touched the lives of many through her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family.
Born and raised in Mexico, Mercedes later made her home in Costa Mesa, CA, where she lived for 13 years before moving to Riverside eight months ago. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to her work in housekeeping and as a sales representative, always known for her strong work ethic and caring spirit.
Mercedes is lovingly remembered by her children: Marilu Davis and Belem Aguirre of Riverside, CA; Steven Morales of Upland, CA; and Juan Aguirre of Mexicali, Mexico. She was a proud grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memory.
She is also survived by her siblings: Rosa Maria Contreras and Isidro Contreras of Mexicali, Mexico, and Enriqueta Jose of Florida. Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Queen of Angels Church, 4824 Jones Ave, Riverside, CA 92505.
Viewing will follow later that day (July 14th) from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Arlington Mortuary, 9645 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92503.
Interment will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Santa Ana Cemetery, 1919 East Santa Clara Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
Mercedes will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love and resilience lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
