Mercille E. Roesch, age 93, of Potosi, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born on January 26, 1932, in Potosi, the daughter of Henry and Valena (Taylor) Ehlen. Mercille attended school at Willow Creek Country School and St. Andrew Catholic School. On November 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to R. Eldon Roesch at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi. They farmed in Potosi Township. Mercille was also employed at Orchard Manor in housekeeping retiring after thirty plus years of service. She enjoyed sightseeing, car rides, going out to eat, bird watching, and horseback riding with family and friends.
Survivors include her four children: Marian Hoffman, Michael (Jennifer) Roesch, David Roesch, Doris (Chuck) Jeidy; three grandchildren: Angie Cooley, Brian (Sheryl Ann) Hoffman, Timothy Roesch; four great-grandchildren: Blake Cooley, Dakota and Cheyenne Hoffman, and Carson Roesch; one sister, Helen Champion; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mercille was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; a son-in-law, John Hoffman; great-grandson, Kayden Roesch; brother-in-law, Donald Champion.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
