Michael B. Bolton
November 21, 1934 – July 5, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael B. Bolton at the age of 90. He left this world at his home surrounded by friends and family. His legacy will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
Mike was born November 21, 1934 in Littlefield, TX to the home of Mary (Kloiber) and Bruce W. Bolton. He was raised in Morton TX, where he excelled academically and Graduated High School as a member of the National Honor Society and served as Valedictorian of his class. He also was very athletic having held State records in the 110 and 220-yard sprints and leading the football team as Quarterback. After Graduating he married his High School Sweetheart, Twila Daniel, to who he devoted his life for 67 years until her passing in 2019.
Mike was a pilar in the community having moved to Deming to open Luna Motors, a Pontiac/Buick dealership. After selling the dealership he opened a used car lot before finally settling in as General Manager of Jack Kennedy Ford for 15 years. He eventually brought back, along with his son Jeff, the Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth Dealership to Deming. He was also involved as a partner in Gateway Motors of Artesia, Zia Motors in Silver City and worked for Scott Nichols Motors of Silver City. In the years before retirement, he returned to the Ford dealership as sales manager for Jack Key.
Mike was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he sang Bass in the choir and in the men's quartet. He served in the Deming Luna County Chamber of Commerce for 25 years including 3 years as President, and was a charter member of the Silver Spikes. Mike served 17 years on the Board of Directors of Home Federal Savings and Loan, and 16 years on the Board of Director of Rio Mimbres Country Club.
Mike is survived by his only son, Jeffery Bolton and his wife Julie Bolton, along with six grandchildren: Susan Khan, Jeffrey Michael Bolton, Angela Van Dyke, Barbara Bernal, Michael Varnum, and Ana Varnum, 11 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Frank Bolton, and sisters Pat Bolton and Mary Lee Terrell.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey M. Bolton, Tom Simmons, Osmon Molina, Jacen Bernal, Kevin Van Dyke and Johnson Daniel. Honorary Pallbearers are, Michael Varnum, Don Daniel, Greg and Shoni Sokora, Jerry Zacheck, and Bruce Crowley.
Mikes life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10:00 am at The First Baptist Church on Pine St. followed by interment next to his wife Twila at Mountain View Cemetery.
