A dedicated mechanic by trade, Michael honed his skills after graduating from Memphis Technical School in 1970, where he laid the foundation for a fulfilling career in the automotive industry. His expertise and passion for his work brought joy not only to himself but also to those who had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside him.
Outside of his profession, Michael found great happiness in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, reveling in nature's beauty during every season. Additionally, his love for stock car racing brought him excitement and camaraderie, as he cherished the friendships forged in the pit.
Michael is survived by his brother, Phillip Wesley "Wes" Fears of Murray, Kentucky; sister, Teresa "Paula" (Albert) Williams of Blountville, Tennessee; uncle, Larry Fears; nephew, Steven (Tina) Edgin; nieces, Paula Jane Hunt, Krysta (Josh) Richards, and Stacy (John) Redden; cousin, Mark Fears; and sister-in-law, Alice Snyder. He leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will echo in the hearts of those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Edward Fears and Betty Jane Miller Strong, and his loving bride of 39 years, Clara Slatton Fears.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at Finch Cemetery on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Michael's life, reflecting on the memories they shared and the impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
