A celebration of life for Michael Shane Smith, 53, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home. Michael passed away on June 27, 2025, in Nacogdoches. He was born on June 8, 1972, in Nacogdoches, to the late Glenn C. and Billie Jean (Jacobs) Smith. There will be a time of visiting and remembrance from 2:00 to 3:00pm prior to the service on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home.
Michael Shane Smith was born June 8, 1972, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He grew up in Woden Texas and graduated from Woden High School. He surprised his mother and brothers by joining the United States Army and proudly served 6 years. Michael lived several years in Kansas before he came home to Woden and lived out his days. Michael was an avid gun and knife collector. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by brothers, Glenn Smith and wife Sherry, Mark Smith and wife Karen. 5 nephews and 2 nieces. 12 great nieces and nephews - who he loved fiercest and enjoyed spending time with; and his beloved dog, Rooster.
Preceded in death by his father, Glenn C. Smith, mother, Billie Jean Smith, uncles Rodger Dale and Robby Gayle Jacobs, grandfather, Charlie C Jacobs and Maw Maw, Ima Jean Jacobs.
