Michael Stanley Stefaniak 01/21/1944 – 06/28/2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Stefaniak, who left us to join his late wife on June 28th at the age of 81. He was born on January 21st in Detroit, MI, to Stanley and Marcella Stefaniak. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who devoted his life to his family and to teaching others.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Sandra (J.D.), Michelle, Steven (Lisa), and Deborah (Steven); and his cherished grandchildren: Alexander (Caitlyn), Ellen, Jacob, Leah, Lillianna, Rosslyn, Elaina, Elanor, Laura, Henry, William, Brayden, Guinevere, and Matthew.
He is also survived by his in-laws: John, Robert (Mary), and Patricia (John), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death-just five weeks prior-by his devoted wife, Diane. He is also predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Marcella; his sister, Judith; and his daughter-in-law, Annette.
Throughout his life, Mike was known for his love of teaching and guiding others, his ability to fix anything, his woodworking skills, and his jokes. He and his wife, Diane, were partners in multiple businesses throughout the Detroit community, spanning four decades. In later years, they enjoyed the quiet serenity of their six acres in Richmond, where you could often find him driving around on his tractor or in the garage working on a new woodworking project. Always welcoming and devoted to making others feel at home, Mike volunteered at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital since his retirement.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home in Oxford. Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Lynch & Sons is located at 39 West Burdick Street, Oxford, MI 48371.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Volunteer Department at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
