Mickey Lynn Teel, 68, of Russell, Kansas, passed away on June 29, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family at her home in Russell.
Mickey was born on April 06, 1957, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond H. and Gloria (Goetz) Teel. She grew up and lived her whole life in Russell, Kansas, and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1975. She met and fell in love with Steve Long on October 16, 1978. From this union they were blessed with 2 wonderful sons. She was always so proud of her boys and loved them both very much. She worked for various companies in the Russell area, working for the Public Broadcasting Service in Bunker Hill, Kansas, in director development. She also worked for KRSL Radio Station as an advertising sales representative. She was most known for the last 20 years as a flower designer for Lana’s Flower Company, LLC and after purchasing the flower shop in 2017 she was the owner and operator of the flower shop before selling the shop in 2023. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Russell and raised the money for Ad Astra Per Aspera on the State Capitol. She worked very diligently to make the flower shop successful. She enjoyed going to concerts with friends. She loved spending time with her family and loved her dog Baxter. He went everywhere with her.
Mickey is survived by her sons Heath Long and wife Terri of Russell, Kansas and Jerod Long and wife Shayla of Bunker Hill, Kansas; sister Lana Brock of Russell, Kansas; four grandchildren Tanner and Bryce Long and Camden and Tatum Denning and three great grandchildren Kinslee, Hadlie and Izabella; nephews Doug Foster and wife Bonnie and David Foster and wife Summer.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mickey selected a cremation service. A private celebration of Mickey’s life will be held at a later date at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Russell, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Mickey Teel Memorial Fund and be designated to a charity at a later date. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
