NEW VIENNA, IOWA
Mildred M. Wente, 92 , of New Vienna, Iowa passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 2 - 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 9 - 10 a.m. at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. David Schatz will officiate.
Mildred was born on February 13, 1933, in New Vienna, Iowa, daughter of Leander and Isabella (Kramer) Koch. She went to Hickory Valley School and graduated from New Vienna High School. She worked at Kerper’s General Store in New Vienna for several years. She married Ralph Wente on September 30, 1961, in New Vienna, Iowa and moved half mile down the road to the Wente family farm. Together they farmed the family farm in the New Vienna area, being the 4th generation to do so. In 2007, they were given the Historical Preservation Award for their farmhouse. Her grandson, Curtis, is now the 6th generation on the family farm. She was able to stay on the farm until she was 90, thanks to her granddaughter, Colleen. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and gardening. She was a woman of faith and loved saying the rosary throughout her day.
Survivors include her children: Al (Maria) Wente, Neil (Mary) Wente both of New Vienna, IA, Karen Wente, Karla (Pat) Krogman both of Davenport, IA, Sara (Ron) Stout of Pekin, IL, and Tina (Zack Kurcharski) Lippe of Cedar Rapids, 12 grandchildren: Curtis (Sara), and Colleen (Jon Savolt) Wente of New Vienna; Katie (Jon) Wilker of Sherrill, Ashley (Tristan) Miles of Dubuque, Brooke of Dubuque, and Ryan Wente of New Vienna; Nathan, Ben and Isabella Krogman of Davenport, and Dakota Stout of Carbon Cliff, IL, Claire and Adelyn Kurcharski of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren: Korra, Amelia, Torin, Nolan, and Cadyn, and a sister, Dorothy (Bob) Pitz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, parents-in-law, William and Catherine Wente; son-in-law. Aaron Lippe; sister, Esther (Earl) Brehm; in-laws: Walter Wente and Grace (Leo) McBride.
