Moises Abraham Castillo, a cherished family patriarch and respected community member, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in Des Plaines at the age of 89. Born on November 1, 1935, in Diriá, Nicaragua, Moises's journey led him to immigrate to the United States where he ultimately gained citizenship-a milestone that he cherished dearly. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a well-loved grocery store in Chicago, serving as a cornerstone of the community and a testament to his dedication to hard work and service. Moises's life was also enlivened by his love for the Chicago Cubs and WWE Wrestling. Moises was the loving husband of the late Zoraida Vazquez Abraham, with whom he shared 54 years of love and devotion. His life was also graced by the love for his children: Amed (Nilsa) Abraham, Yalila (Conce) Rodriguez, Sassha (Michael) Rongholt, and Ahmed (Ana) Aich. He was the heart of the family, a sentiment also felt by his adoring grandchildren Yashia (Peter), Krystal (Tedd), Ambar, Ariel, Avery (Michael), Jacob, Joshua, Megan (Tyler), Michaela, Hadid, and Aisha, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren Brooklynn, Olivia, Jamison, Jaxson, Leo, Emma, and Bailey. Departing before him were his beloved parents Migdalia Castillo and Abraham Ismael Aich, his son Fadel Abraham, as well as his wife, Zoraida. Moises is also survived by his three brothers and two sisters, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and an unbreakable bond. As we bid farewell to Moises Abraham Castillo, we honor a life that was rich in love, laughter, and service. His memory will forever be a guiding light, igniting the hearts of those he touched with stories of his kindness and indomitable spirit. For any who wish to pay their respects, a visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Matz Mount Prospect Funeral Chapel, 410 E Rand Rd, Mount Prospect IL, 60056. A brief service will be held on Saturday, August 9th, beginning at 12:00 PM, also at Matz, with a burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
