Sondra "Sonnie" Ramsey ObituarySondra K. "Sonnie" Ramsey, 75
EAST LIVERPOOL – It is with both sadness and gratidude that we announce the passing of Sondra K. "Sonnie" Ramsey, of East Liverpool, who left us Thursday morning, September 4, 2025 while surrounded by her family at her home. For 75 years, she lived a life of love, laughter and just the right amount of spice.
Born in East Liverpool, December 27, 1949, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Peggy K. McConnell Johnson. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1967, she remained an avid Potter fan the rest of her life, attending countless programs and sporting events to support her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sonnie worked as a supervisor on the gauge line at Marsh Bellofram until retiring in 2008. She also spent time working at Homer Laughlin, Foodland and Giant Eagle. Along with her husband, she was a founding member of the Lil Potters Football organization.
Sonnie carried her bold and vibrant spirit through every stage of her life, whether it was offering a quick-witted remark, sharing an infectious laugh, or standing fiercely for those she loved, she made sure her presence was felt and cherished wherever she went. Sonnie was a woman who loved deeply. She poured her heart into her family, friends and community. She had a way of lighting up a room, whether through her sharp sense of humor, her no-nonsense honesty or her warm hugs. She embodied both strength and tenderness, reminding those around her that life is best lived authentically and with joy.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Robert N. Ramsey, at home. The couple married April 15, 1967. Together they raised their three children: a daughter, Stephanie Prentice and her husband, Darrin, and two sons, Robert "Moose" Ramsey and his wife, Amber, and Sean T. Ramsey, Sr. and his wife, Melissa. Her memory will be cherished by her 13 grandchildren: Lacy Ramsey, Brandon Russell, Sean T. Ramsey, Jr., Linsay Prentice, Dalton Ramsey, Connor Ramsey, Kolby Ramsey, Aubrianna Ramsey, Kasen Ramsey, Landon Ramsey, Miley Ramsey, Isaiah Greathouse and Kooper Ramsey, as well as five great-grandchildren: Dominic, Bella, Kolton, Gianna and Harper.
In addition, four loving sisters survive, Patricia Boram and her husband, Ron, Darlene Burdess and her husband, Bob, Peggy Skelton and her husband, Chuck, and Lisa Conkle and her husband, Bob.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank her aide Brittney Spriva, the staff at DCI Dialysis Clinic, Southern Care Hospice, Sara Pease CNP and the Hawaiian Bristol Hospice Agency.
Friends may visit Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Pastor Dirk Hall will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
