Monroe Mayhue Thompson, aged 64, was born on January 4, 1961, to
the late Monroe Mayhue Redwine and Ruth Lee Thompson in
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
Monroe served on active duty in the United States Air Force from
1979- 1985 and again as an Air Force Reservist from 1992 – 1998.
During his time, he married Constance Maria Agee in December 1985
and shared with her two daughters: Celina Nicole Thompson (July
1986) and Janea Shanice Thompson-Williams (February 1988).
Monroe accepted Jesus Christ at the age of twenty-seven in Royal Air Force Lakenheath chapel
in England.
After his military service, Monroe pursued his education and obtained an Associate of Science
for Computer Technology from Heald College in Sacramento, CA. Prior to his passing he
worked in Telecommunications servicing the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Headquarters
building in Washington, DC. Monroe was responsible for all the installation and maintenance
Infrastructure(cabling/fiber) throughout the VA campus. He was the head of inventory, as well as
assisted with project management and day-to-day operations.
Monroe enjoyed restaurants like Carrabba's Italian Grill and Ruby Tuesday's. Some of his
favorite TV Shows were Seinfeld, Home Improvement and Big Bang Theory. He also enjoyed
watching the streams of cruise ships coming in and out of port in Fort Lauderdale. On occasion
he would joke about one day, in his older age, he was going to be a greeter at Walmart.
Monroe, a staunch sports advocate, spent his early adult years volunteering at recreation facilities
by coaching and refereeing basketball games. There was no greater fan of the NFL Pittsburgh
Steelers football team than Monroe. He was a dedicated fan of the black and yellow team. It was
through football, as well as other sports, allowing him to connect and bond with his daughters.
Monroe departed this life on the 23rd of June 2025 in Dumfries, VA. Monroe is preceded in
death by his mother, Ruth Lee Thompson (1988); his father, Monroe Mayhue Redwine (1988);
and his brother, Elmer Thompson (1988).
Monroe leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, sister Cheryl Thompson, and a host of
nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

We just wanted to give our condolences to Monroe's family and let you know that we had a special bond because we were Steelers Family. We will miss chatting with him during the football season. John's last time texting Monroe was Father's day. He was a great guy and he will be missed.
