Montice L. McCarthy, age 88 of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon July 2, 2025 at her home. She was born January 4, 1937 in Washington Court House, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Dartha (Hottinger) Gool. She was always a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Montice is survived by two children, Karen McCarthy Carr of Dayton and James K. "Kevin" (Esma) McCarthy of Beavercreek; five grandchildren, Kristina "Kristi" Carr, Shannon (Graham) Carr Brooks, Shaun Carr, Meredith McCarthy and Patrick McCarthy; and four great grandchildren, Kaylynn Brooks, Connor Brooks, Kyle Brooks and Camden Brooks. In addition to to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, James E. McCarthy. They were united in marriage on December 29, 1953, and he passed away August 15, 2008. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fredrick Gool and Allen Swafford. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, when a funeral service will begin. Rev. Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
