Myra Glee (Turner) Parkhurst
1927-2025
Myra Glee (Turner) Parkhurst, 97,
Eagleville, MO, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at Pine View Manor, Stanberry, MO. She was born on November 14, 1927, at the Bethany Hospital, the daughter of Farris and Teloir (Anderson) Turner. She was the second of two daughters.
Myra attended grade school and high school at Eagleville where she played the piano and cello. She continued her education at Central College at Lafayette, MO where she roomed with her sister, Ina Gray. While at college she majored in Music and minored in Art. She took up playing the clarinet in the orchestra and joined the choir club at college. Myra sang and played instruments in the choir at Otterbein Church which was on her grandfather's land. After meeting at ice cream socials and many youth groups, Loren and Myra were united in marriage on September 11, 1954. They were married for 67 years, and six girls blessed their lives.
Myra had a skill for drawing, loved her music, and was an avid gardener. She passed this love on to all her girls. She also helped Loren in the fields in their early years. Sewing look alike dresses for all the girls and fixing their hair was also something she was known for. At Christmas time she would make Barbie doll clothes for the girls too. Loren kept wanting a boy to help him on the farm but, the girls kept coming so she finally told him that these girls can learn how to work too! When her girls got older she would play accordion, and they would sing and dance for others. She tried to instill the love of music by teaching the girls to play piano.
Myra was truly a loving, kindhearted, humble, simple, and positive gal with quite a sense of humor right up to the end. She was a very devoted wife and a wonderful mom. They all claimed to be her favorite and she went right along with it. It was super amazing that she was able to raise six girls after being diagnosed with tuberculosis of the bone at the age of 5 leaving her leg straight.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren Parkhurst; daughter Carmen Gustafason and great grandson, Callan Redding.
Myra is survived by her sister Ina Gray; daughters Melody Henn, Pamela and Kelly Nichols, Rebecca and Steve Ellis, Carolyn Parkhurst, and Rhonda Parkhurst; 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Myra has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home,
Eagleville, MO. No services will be held at this time. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Cemetery,
Eagleville, MO in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46,
