Myung Jo Choi, age 73, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on August 18, 1951, in South Korea, Myung Jo was the cherished son of the late Bong Sun Choi and Ae Ran Cho. He immigrated to the United States seeking a better life for his family and worked tirelessly to provide them with love, stability, and strong values.
In October 27, 1979, Myung Jo married his wife, Ki Soon Choi, with whom he shared 45 devoted years of marriage. Together, they raised two daughters, creating a home grounded in faith, sacrifice, and community. A devoted member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Myung Jo found deep purpose in serving others, offering comfort and laughter to those in need.
He will be remembered for his strong spirit, unwavering determination, and deep love for his family and community. Whether through acts of service or heartfelt conversations, Myung Jo lived a life of love and selflessness.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ki Soon Choi; daughters Sarah Popescu and Rebekah Choi; and his treasured grandson, Ayden Popescu, who brought him immeasurable joy.
A celebration of Myung Jo's life will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 7:00 PM at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
