Nancy Ann Avery, 67, of Howell, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on July 8, 2025.
Born on April 22, 1958, Nancy was born and raised in Howell, where she went on to raise her own family with her husband of 47 years, Gregory. Nancy worked at the Howell Post Office before "retiring" and running her own successful cleaning business. Nancy was an avid golfer and an unwavering fan of the Detroit Tigers, even during the darkest years. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved nothing more than spending time with people she cared for, whether golfing, walking, scrapbooking, traveling, going to Tigers games (at as many stadiums as possible), drinking wine, camping, swimming, boating, or even doing nothing at all.
Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristin Avery; mother, Dicksie McCarthy; sister Mary Cooney; and brother Patrick McCarthy. Memories of her love and kindness will be carried on by her husband, Gregory Avery; her children, Kelly Taulbee, Kevin Avery, Kirk (Suzi) Avery, and Donald (Amy) Avery; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, friends, her church family at Marr Community Bible Church, and probably a whole bunch of other people whose life was positively impacted by having met Nancy even in passing.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 4:00PM - 6:00PM at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel. 315 N. Michigan Ave. Howell, MI 48843. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00AM at Marr Community Bible Church. 4494 N. Burkhart Rd. Howell, MI 48855. A luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Nancy's honor to Marr Community Bible Church or the American Cancer Society. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.WatkinsFuneralHomes.com
