Nancy Carolyn Edwards, age 79, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith.
Born on July 20, 1945, in Fort Smith, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Joe W. Edwards and Edna Louise Hoen Edwards. A lifelong resident of Arkansas, she attended Greenwood High School and remained dedicated to her community throughout her life.
Nancy was known for her generous heart and deep compassion for others. She opened her home to many children over the years, fostering and housing those in need-including several foreign exchange students. Her nurturing spirit and selfless nature left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
She found joy in simple pleasures and acts of service. She was an active member of her quilting club and dedicated much of her time volunteering through her church to help families. Nancy will be remembered most for her unwavering love and commitment to serving others, especially children in need.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Kabrei Edwards, plus the numerous foster children who were in her care; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; her aunt Sara, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe W. Edwards and Edna Edwards; and her brothers: Joe Ed Edwards, Bill Edwards, and Jerry Edwards.
In honor of her giving spirit, memorial donations may be made to the Mercy Hospice Foundation. Services entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
