Nancy Eltz of Wanaksink Lake, and longtime resident of Middletown and Rock Hill, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at the Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 80.
Nancy was the daughter of the late John O. Joly Sr. and Mildred A. Budd Joly, and was born July 11, 1944 in Tuxedo, NY.
Nancy was the heart and soul of her family. She loved nothing more than having her family gathered around the table for holidays and family celebrations. Nancy's life was a testament to her unconditional love and devotion to her family. She had a special love and passion for children and animals. Throughout her life she cared for over 60 children as if they were her own. Nancy was a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her friends at Wanaksink Lake.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years: Thomas Eltz Sr.; their daughter Susan Furman and her husband Douglas Furman; their sons: Thomas Eltz Jr. and his loving companion Jill Kelly, and Keith Barber; their grandchildren: Justin Eltz and his partner Kevin Pfleging, and Kimberly Kelly; her Siblings: Kathleen Duffus, John O. Joly Jr. and his wife Regina Joly, Jan Joly, and Jerry Joly and his wife Noreen Joly; loving nieces and nephews; and her loyal, faithful and loving shih tzu Krystal Lee. Nancy was her family's Earth angel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 10 at 11am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello wit Fr. John Tran officiating. Burial will follow at the Hurleyville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org or to your local humane society.
