Naomi Petersen Obituary

Naomi Janet Petersen of Klamath Falls, Oregon, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Sky Lakes Medical Center. Per Janet's request, no memorial services will be held.

Janet was born December 1, 1940 in Hollister, CA to Ashton Bud and Naomi Marie Helmer. She grew up in Paicines, CA on a cattle ranch that her father managed. It was there that she embraced the ranching lifestyle.

Janet attended and graduated from San Benito High School and it was there she met her husband, Stanley Michael Petersen. On August 28, 1960 they married and began their life together, living on the Petersen Ranch in Emmett, CA. It was there that the welcomed their two sons, Mike and Irvin. In the mid 1960's they moved to the Klamath Basin and settled in Bonanza, Oregon, and welcomed daughter, Suzie. Janet helped along-side her husband with their ranch, lumber business, trucking business and was the original owner of the Longhorn Restaurant and Saloon in Bonanza.

Janet was an accomplished painter, and was a featured artist at local galleries in Klamath Falls. She loved spending time with her family, hunting, fishing and traveling. When the grandchildren came along, Janet was the go to grandma and the grandkids were always at her house doing activities. She was a regular at their rodeos, football, volleyball, softball, and baseball games. Janet was an accomplished cook, holiday meals and brandings at her house had the best meals and her beans were always a hit.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Stan and her son, Mike. Janet leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law Irvin and Karen Petersen and daughter and son-in-law Suzie and Ed Anderson, all of Bonanza; grandchildren, Kailand, Nikki, Paige, Erik Petersen; Ace, Jennifer, Ashlie, Henry, Rose, John Anderson; Pat, Korina and Halie Petersen; 25 great grandchildren and she was looking forward to meeting her first great-great grandchild who was born just days after her passing.
