Natalie M. (Borges) Scannell, age 90, of Medford passed away on Sunday, July 13th at Winchester Hospital. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Mary (Gualet) Borges. Natalie was employed at Schrafft's Candy Company in Charlestown, where she met her husband Daniel. She later worked at Federal Distillers in Cambridge with her sister Dolores. Natalie loved to travel, sing and dance, and was very devoted to the Catholic Church.
Natalie was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Daniel J. Scannell, and the devoted mother of Susan DeAngelis and her husband Joe, Dan Scannell and his wife Brenda, Joseph Scannell and his partner Lisa Wright, and Natalie E. Scannell and her husband Chris Nigro. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Judith Scannell. Natalie was the loving grandmother of Vincent, Daniel, Thomas, Joseph, Jacob, Ryan, Francesca and Donny, and great grandmother of Everly and Daniel. She was the dear sister of Joseph Borges and his wife Ann, and the late Dolores Nardone, Sidney Borges, John Borges, Frank Borges and Gerrie Downing. Natalie is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She also is survived by her good friend Rosalie Uglietta.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 17th from 8:30 AM through 9:30 AM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Natalie's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
