Nella Ann Ritcheson, 66, of New Haven, Illinois passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 19, 1958, in Vandalia, Illinois, and from the very beginning, she embodied kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love for those around her.
Nella had a heart for helping others, especially children. She spent her life giving, nurturing, and being a pillar of strength to those who needed her. She believed that family was life’s greatest gift, a connection that endures through all - and she instilled that truth in those she loved. She was a source of unwavering support, a compassionate friend, and a beacon of warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She also had a wonderful sense of humor, always knowing how to bring laughter into a room with her quick wit and playful spirit.
Family was the center of Nella’s world, and she lived each day ensuring her loved ones felt cherished. She is survived by her son, Richard Kyle (Heather Hudson) Ritcheson, and her daughter, Rochelle Ritcheson Wilkerson, who is engaged to Nick Zappa. Her greatest joy in life came from being a grandmother to Adrianna and Xander Wilkerson, who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Ritcheson, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion. She was also reunited in Heaven with her parents, Kelly and Betty Bowles, and her three brothers, Kelly, Darrell, and Danny Bowles.
A celebration of Nella’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15, at Plainview General Baptist Church in Norris City, IL. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. A potluck meal will be served following the service, and all are welcome to join in fellowship and remembrance.
