Nellie Ruth Smith Martin, 88, of Clover, South Carolina passed away on July 10, 2025, at Robin Johnson Hospice House. She was born on November 2, 1936, to the late Ransom Verlin Smith and Etta Scofield Swink Smith.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sheri Denton, son, Steven Crisp, sisters, Ruby Day and Judy Easler.
A special thank you to the staff of Carolina Caring Hospice of Newton, White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain, and Robin Johnson Hospice House of Dallas, for their care and support for our loved one, Nellie. The work everyone has done is a gift and a blessing to the family. We will always be grateful and appreciate each one of you.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Phillip Denton (Teresa) from Clover, South Carolina; daughters, Cindy Bradley from Kings Mountain, Dana Raxter from Shelby; sister, Georgie Day of Bessemer City; brothers, Steve, Danny, and Harold Smith; grandchildren, Dustin Raxter (Amber) from Kings Mountain, Brittany Raxter (Ryan Dufault) from Shelby, Brandi Alexander (Steven) from Denver, David Alexander from Bessemer City, Monk Denton (Shelby) from Union, South Carolina, Angie Jenkins (T. J.) from Kannapolis, Christopher Denton (Liz) from Hickory, Travis Bradley (Dandria) from Shelby, and Chad Bradley from Gastonia; along with great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Trinity Assembly of God, 307 White Jenkins Rd., Bessemer City with Rev Eric Griffin officiating.
Nellie’s funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the church.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
