Nelson Peter Laborde, age 82, of Hessmer passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Hessmer Nursing Home.
Nelson had a love for farming cattle, sweet potatoes, soy beans, and crawfish in Hessmer for over 40 years. He retired from Angola Prison after 19 years of work. He loved and cherished his family the most they were always by each others side.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Mark (Pamela) Laborde and Brian (Michelle) Laborde; grandchildren, Rachal Laborde Juneau, Stephen Laborde, Ashley Laborde Laurent, and Matthew Laborde; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Laurent, Courtney Juneau, Reed Juneau, and Owen Juneau.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gaspard Laborde; infant son, John Laborde; parents, Gus and Ruby Ducote Laborde; brother, Charles (Myrtle) Laborde.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Mausoleum.
Visitation will begin at 5:00PM to 10:00PM at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Rosary will be recited at 7:00PM. Escude Funeral Home in Mansura will reopen at 8:00AM until 10:00AM, Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home of Mansura, LA (6608 Porterie St.) 318-964-2324.
